Help needed - Jetronics double valve

Postby AlexHawtin » Tue Mar 20, 2018 11:27 am

Hi guys,

Just finished setup on the Ultra Lightning and found an issue which is really bugging me, On power up the Valve controlling the gear just seems to shut down allowing the legs to retract. The gear works fine once they’ve been cycled but it’s just a little annoying having to pick up the model on every start up.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Al

Have you tried binding your radio with the gear down ?

When you say bind the radio do you mean setting the valves on/off position?.

If you have the wheels up when the model is bound, I think that is what the rx sees on boot up. If you have the model how you want it (wheels down) and bind the rx again, I think you will be good to go. You on Spektrum?

Hi, That sounds promising. I'm using Futaba S.Bus through a PB mercury.

Might be worth having the model set wheels down, then go into powerbox and save fail safe positions. Been a while since I set up my PB Mercury but it maybe worth a check. I'm on Futaba as well and don't remember having to bind as mentioned, so it may be a failsafe setting. The failsafes are done through the powerbox, not your tx (sure you know that already).

As Simon said. If you have your retract switch set for wheels down when you switch on they will go up and then down again, if you have not bound with the wheels down.

Does this also apply with Futaba S.bus, I seem to remember I bound the RX's before I even touched the Gear. I can try rebinding tomorrow.

Tried setting failsafe with the gear down, still retracting on power up, it’s not just the gear it’s also the nose door which is on a separate valve but on the same mix.

So you have two separate valves on the same mix in the tx, but when you power on the rx, they both operate in the opposite direction than you want before returning to the correct position once the model binds up to the tx?

Could it be the switching point on the valves needs setting?

Ok so, upon power up both the Gear and the front gear door retract and won’t operate until the retract switch has been operated. They don’t return to the correct position until you have cycled the switch.

The valves seem to have a reversed start up signal or something along those lines but I can’t find any settings which adjust start up procedures.

I remember having a similar issue but its been ages since I've had an air system with valves and mine were probably an older model.

Have a look at this from the instructions.

Adjusting switching point
Important: Valve must be in Normal Mode (Delivery condition) or a RESET has to be done.
1. Switch on transmitter/receiver.
2. Transmitter function to undercarriage "OUT" (down) position.
3. Press the button on the valve that has the light “ON” for at least
0.5 seconds.
(This is dependent on which way the cylinder tubes are connected to outputs (2) of the
valve)
4. Transmitter function to undercarriage "IN".
5. Press the other button for at least 0.5 seconds.
6. Test the function.

Might be worth a try to force the valve to actuate the correct way (might not but worth a try). Other than that, I can't think of anything else. Hard to trouble shoot with the model not in front of me.

Tried above sequence, still nothing.

The valve actually switches to Red on both valves until the cycled so it’s not a case of it’s not giving pressure to the retracts.
